April 25 2007 —Big Events at the Site!

Sugar and Buster, the radiant heating subcontractor’s dog, start off the day by having a great time playing in the mud.

The barn is almost ready for its beams to go up.

The framers stack boards up to take up to the second floor to be used as rafters.

The guest cottage floor was poured on Monday and here it is on Wednesday—already partially framed!

Looking down from the bank at the guest cottage, they have the floor covered to protect it and the south and east walls up.

We are waiting for the the Summit of the Subs, a big meeting with all the trades who will be involved with the floor on the house.

The house is a much more complex structure than the barn and guest cottage, and the logistics of what goes where in the slab have been worrying all of us. So today, we will meet with the plumber, the radiant heat installer, the electrician, the concrete contractor, the floor finisher, the propane guy, etc., etc., etc.

At one point, Janver, the general contractor said he counted 19 trucks!

Here is the beginning of the Summit of the Subs. We are looking over the plans to decide where to put the sewer pipes.
While we are meeting, the crane truck arrives.
The crane is here to lift the beams up for the barn.
The crane is placed in position while Sugar, the dog, directs. Someone from the guest cottage framing crew balances on top of the framing to watch. Their turn will come Friday, when the trusses are set.
