May 9, 2007—Still on stand-by

When I got to the site today, all was quiet. It was pleasantly warm but not hot. I put in two tomatoes last week and wanted to make cages for them and also to check the sprinklers on my roses, so I came up to the site. It was a good thing I did, because I had left the sprinkler hooked up to a different hose bib and it does not have enough pressure to run the sprinklers. After the heat earlier in the week, everything really needed a drink.

Here is a good view of the cottage porch. Kai took up the paper on the porch floor and swept, so you can get a better idea of how it will look finished.

They did a wash finish of the concrete on the porch, so it is a little rough. This is so it’s not slippery when it gets wet.

This picture is from the cottage kitchen, looking toward the front. The two side windows look right at the barn, but the front window will have a great view.

This is a view from the living room back to the kitchen. It looks so much nicer with the floor cleaned off. We will stain the concrete, but haven’t determined the color yet.

Here is a view into the attic. To access it, there will be a pull-down staircase where this hole is.

Standing in front of the cottage, you are looking into the barn door. This is now specified as a corrugated metal roll-up door. The ground will be re-graded so you can drive into the barn, but we will probably not use it for parking anything for a while—if ever.

I keep meaning to take a picture from inside the barn looking north, out the barn door, so here it is. Hopefully, this will be our gym area.
