May 9, 2007—Still on stand-by
When I got to the site today, all was quiet. It was pleasantly warm but not hot. I put in two tomatoes last week and wanted to make cages for them and also to check the sprinklers on my roses, so I came up to the site. It was a good thing I did, because I had left the sprinkler hooked up to a different hose bib and it does not have enough pressure to run the sprinklers. After the heat earlier in the week, everything really needed a drink. Here is a good view of the cottage porch. Kai took up the paper on the porch floor and swept, so you can get a better idea of how it will look finished. |
They did a wash finish of the concrete on the porch, so it is a little rough. This is so it’s not slippery when it gets wet. |
This picture is from the cottage kitchen, looking toward the front. The two side windows look right at the barn, but the front window will have a great view.
This is a view from the living room back to the kitchen. It looks so much nicer with the floor cleaned off. We will stain the concrete, but haven’t determined the color yet. |
Here is a view into the attic. To access it, there will be a pull-down staircase where this hole is. |
Standing in front of the cottage, you are looking into the barn door. This is now specified as a corrugated metal roll-up door. The ground will be re-graded so you can drive into the barn, but we will probably not use it for parking anything for a while—if ever. |
I keep meaning to take a picture from inside the barn looking north, out the barn door, so here it is. Hopefully, this will be our gym area. |
