October 8 to 11, 2008—Coming down the home stretch . . .

Kai also put in the towel bars in our bathroom. Thank goodness I got the ones which could be cut down, because this set did need to be shortened a bit from the original 24".

I am still not sure that I like the not-green doors in the bathroom. I had intended for there to be no green in the bathroom at all, but the windows were stained green before I could tell the painters not to, and the door to the hall—which is green on the hall side—will probably be left open a lot. Oh well.

Here are some more towel bars. These are for hand towels—one on the end of the cabinet and one on the wall by the window.

Oops, again.

I was actually using the sink when I noticed that it had no drain closer. Somehow, the salesperson dropped the ball and did not get the faucets with the drain-lifters for this bathroom like she was supposed to. Of course, the plumbers did not know that there were supposed to be drain lifters and put in the little grate at the bottom of the sink.

I hope we can rectify this some way. As a former contact lens wearer, a grate in a sink makes me anxious. Plus, I do want to be able to fill up the sink!

Well our pristine fireplace is no more. I burned a small piece of wood in the fireplace without thinking about how it was going to blacken the bricks and so the fireplace is christened. The floor looks great though.
Here is the screen for our vegetable cooler. I was able to get it copper plated and sent right to the site. It should tarnish to a soft brown.
