June 25, 2008—Our granite is installed

Here is another shot taken from a little closer on the pond road.

The hip of the chimney and the foyer porch roof, which were design choices we made at the end of the process, really work. So does the little roof over the living room back door, the details for which were worked out with Abe last November.

The chimney just has a box of plywood with a larger piece nailed on top to protect it from the weather, but I actually love the way it looks.
We have a more elaborate chimney top planned, but I am going to talk to Todd Jersey about simplifying the design to echo this.
The veranda post bases have been repaired as well. They will pour this concrete next week.

Here is the master bath window, looking west at the master bedroom and kitchen/family room windows.

Look how terrible the smoke in the air is. There are so many fires going on. I have had my assistant weed-whack a larger fire break, just in case.

I had been out late last night and only gotten 4 hours of sleep, so I was mighty glad to call it a day and head on home, despite how beautiful the house looked in the evening light.
